The history of Namô
Namô means ‘paying homage’.
We acknowledge tradition whilst continually evolving a new wave of
fresh modern flavours.
Linh originally came from Vietnam to Britain with her family in
1978, after seeking refuge from their country as part of the boat
people movement.
Namô, Victoria Park opened in 2005 and is the sister restaurant to
the original Huong Viet, Englefield road, London N1. Huong Viet
was one of the first in London to serve traditional food to locals
in the Vietnamese Community Centre, founded by Linh’s parents.
Linh is one of a new generation building on layers of historical
influences, evolving traditional recipes using fresh local
ingredients.
“The Vietnamese live to eat & our philosophy states
that food is life”
‘Hôp’ is ‘box’ in Vietnamese
All our baguettes are hand made in partnership with artisan bakers.
Our version of the Vietnamese baguette is one that is light, airy
yet with a gentle crispiness on the outside flecked with real rice
grains.
Taking the philosophy of Namô, Hôp is Vietnamese street food with
a modern twist.
